Registration
Candidates who aspire to register for PTE exam can register for the exam online through the official website by following the steps given below:
- Candidates shall provide personal details to create Pearson account. This account shall be used by candidates for all further correspondence.
- Next, candidates shall complete PTE registration process after which they shall receive an email within 48 hours from Pearson.
- Candidates can then proceed to search for preferred PTE test center. At this point, candidates can opt for a home version of test too.
- Further, candidates can choose a suitable time and date for the exam.
- Click on ‘checkout’ button to complete the process.
- Finally, candidates can pay the exam fee of Rs. 14,700 and finalise the exam booking.
Apart from online method, candidates can choose to register for the PTE exam via phone by dialling 00080 0440 2020.
Dates & Deadlines
- PTE exam is conducted throughout the year. The exam is conducted on all days except public holidays and Sundays.
- Candidates can choose a convenient date and time slot a month in advance.
- Once the candidates register for the exam, they shall receive a confirmation email approximately 5 days prior to the test date.
- Candidates can expect the result within five business days after the exam.
Eligibility
- There are no specific eligibility criteria set by the conducting body; Pearson VUE.
- Candidates can take the test as many times as they wish as there is no limit to the number of attempts.
- There is no minimum requirement of educational qualification to take this test.
- There is no minimum or maximum age limit to take the test. Candidates below the age of 18 years can take the test if they submit a parental consent at the time of registration.
Exam Fee
- Candidates can complete the registration for PTE exam only by paying an exam fee of Rs 14,700.
- Candidates will have to pay a late booking fee for booking the exam within 48 hours from the test date.
- Candidates can reschedule the exam by paying a cancellation and rescheduling fee. However, candidates can claim a refund if they cancel or reschedule the exam 14 calendar days before the test date.
- 50% of the test fee can be refunded to candidates who cancel or reschedule the exam at least 7 calendar days before the test.
- No refunds are paid to candidates who cancel or reschedule the exam in less than 7 days before the exam.
Checklist of Documents
- Candidates should reach the test center at least 30 minutes prior the exam to avoid any last-minute hassles.
- Candidates require their passports at the time of registration as well as at the time of the test.
- The photograph and biometrics of the candidates will be scanned at the test center itself.
- Candidates will be given a designated area for their personal belongings.
Mode of Examination
- PTE is a computer-based exam. However, with the onset of pandemic, exam can also be taken by candidates at the safety of their homes.
- PTE Academic online is a convenient testing solution that candidates can schedule upto 24 hours prior the exam date. However, candidates must follow certain obligations:
- A quite and private location
- A reliable computer with adequate system requirements (OnVUE software)
- A wired headset and webcam
- A strong internet connection
Exam Syllabus
PTE Academic exam includes three sections; Speaking & writing, listening, and reading section. Here is a combined list of the types of questions asked in each section.
The entire PTE exam is for 2 hours. The figure given below shall define the time candidates can dedicate for each section.
Scores
- PTE results are usually available online within two working days of taking the test.
- Candidates can access their PTE scores through their registered online account after they receive an email notifying the availability of scores.
- The exam is scored on a scale of 10-90. These grades show a person’s ability to read, speak, write, and understand English language.
- PTE scores are valid for a period of two years. Candidates can choose to retake the exam with a gap of 5 years.
- Candidates can get their responses rescored; however, this is not possible if they have scheduled another test.
